The Penn State football team already earned one commitment this week in Randy Adirika. On Thursday, the hope was for the Nittany Lions to continue that momentum by adding the No. 1 WR in Pennsylvania Lex Cyrus. That hope faded when Cyrus decided to commit to South Carolina over Penn State and the 2025 recruiting class.
Penn State football misses on the No. 1 WR in PA
Lex Cyrus is a four-star wide receiver prospect according to On3. The Harrisburg, PA native ranks as the No. 5 prospect in the Keystone State in the 2025 recruiting class. He is also a top 150 prospect nationally, where he is listed as the 109th prospect in the country.
Cryus had several big-time offers awaiting him and his decision came down to South Carolina, Maryland, and Penn State. After taking his official visit on May 31, he made his commitment on Thursday to Shane Beamer and South Carolina over the Penn State football team.
The decision comes as a surprise to many as Cyrus held multiple predictions to land in Happy Valley. Now, the Nittany Lions will focus its attention on blue-chip WR Taz Williams who will make his commitment on Saturday.
