Penn State football continues to search for its next wide receiver commit. There are players that the Nittany Lions are in a good position within the 2025 recruiting class. But, to date, Penn State commit Lyrick Samuel is the only 2025 wide receiver in the cycle. However, that could soon change, as four-star receiver Corey Simms has set his official commitment date.
Penn State football 2025 wide receiver target updates commitment date
Corey Simms is a four-star prospect in the 2025 recruiting class. Standing at 6-3 185 pounds, Simms is one of the top recruits in Missouri. The Saint Louis native ranks as the No. 3 prospect in the state, and he is a top 50 wide receiver in the 2025 recruiting class, according to the On3 Industry Rankings.
On Wednesday, Hayes Fawcett of On3 announced that Simms is down to his final three schools, including Missouri, USC, and Penn State. Fawcett also stated that Simms has decided on a commitment date. His decision will be made on June 30.
Simms took his official visit to Penn State on May 31. Last weekend, he was at USC, and next weekend (June 21), he will complete his official visit to Missouri.
Currently, in-state Missouri holds the lead in his recruiting efforts. On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine gives the Tigers an 85% chance to land the wide receiver prospect.
Nittany Lions are favored to land the No. 1 WR in Maryland
Penn State will need to await a decision made by Corey Simms. But the Nittany Lions are in a better position with Jeff Exinor. He ranks as the No. 1 WR in Maryland in the 2025 recruiting class and holds a four-star ranking, according to On3.
Recently, recruiting experts Brian Dohn of 247Sports and Sean Fitz of On3 have logged predictions that Exinor will land in Happy Valley. During his junior season in 2023, Exinor accounted for 873 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns at McDonogh.
