Penn State football is returning a remarkable amount of talent from a roster that reached the National Semifinal in 2024. However, the Nittany Lions’ retention efforts didn’t come without some cost, as backup quarterback Beau Pribula left Happy Valley for the transfer portal.

It’s been a little over one month since Pribula’s transfer to the Missouri Tigers was made complete. With winter workouts just a few short weeks away, the former Nittany Lion is settling into life in Columbia.

On Friday, Pribula tweeted a graphic with a “first look” at him in a Tigers’ uniform. The graphic’s background contained the text, “I am home.”

“New field, same mission, Pribula commented on the photo.

The rising redshirt junior made the most of his limited opportunities in Happy Valley. Pribula finished his Penn State football career completing 66% of his passes for 424 yards and nine touchdowns. The mobile threat added 571 yards and 10 scores on the ground over the last two seasons.

Pribula’s decision to transfer at the start of the Nittany Lions’ College Football Playoff run in December set off a national conversation about the timing of the transfer portal.

“Beau grew up wanting to come to Penn State his whole life. This is his dream school, James Franklin said of the situation. “And [he] had a phenomenal career here. And I just want everybody to understand that, most importantly.

“Why have we created a system where this guy couldn’t finish this season with his team? And there’s going to be people who said, well, he could have.

“In any situation that I’m in, personally and professionally, I always try to take a deep breath and look at things from both perspectives. And in my mind, as the head coach of Penn State, obviously, I have a responsibility for Penn State and our football program, but I also feel like I also have a responsibility to Beau Pribula.”
