Penn State football has battled its share of injuries throughout the 2024 campaign. Among those Nittany Lions most familiar with that struggle is starting right tackle Anthony Donkoh.

“I’d say it’s been a battle,” Donkoh shared following Penn State’s 35-6 win over Washington on Saturday night. “But I’ve been doing a really good job working with the trainers and communicating to Coach Trautwein and Coach Franklin about how I’m feeling and to be able to adjust with how I’m feeling. That’s what helped me be able to get on the field and [be] executing through my injuries that I got.”

Donkoh suffered an injury against UCLA that forced him to exit the October 5 matchup in the first half. Although he’s appeared in every game, the redshirt freshman has been limited and in and out of the lineup.

But Donkoh returned to the starting lineup for the White Out. He ultimately saw more snaps than at any point over the last month.

“Really, my prep [to play] started after the game on Saturday [against Ohio State],” he told reporters. “I was just living in the training room so I could be able to still come back [from] the injury I had from Wisconsin. Just working with the trainers and communicating with them how I’m feeling. And then I was able to practice more on Tuesday because of how I was putting in an effort on Sunday and Monday. Those reps were valuable.

“I was able to capitalize [on] the reps I had and then just coming into the game feeling really confident – not feeling like anything is slowing me down and just play with an open head and an open mind and do my job.”
