The Penn State football team is in a position to have an explosive offense this fall. But that all comes down to execution by the skill positions. While the Nittany Lions are sure of what they have at the running back position, wide receiver is still in question heading into the fall. But it all starts with the quarterbacks and Penn State has two that can truly contribute. Recently, offensive coordinator Andy Kotelnicki explained why Beau Pribula is a special athlete.
Beau Pribula enters this fall as the presumed backup Penn State football QB to Drew Allar. But the Nittany Lions showcased last season how the backup can still have a role on the field. By inserting Pribula into games when the timing was right ended up being effective. Then, you add Andy Kotelnicki and his creativity and suddenly the wrinkle can become a staple of an offense.
While speaking to the media recently, Kotelnicki explained how Pribula has elite traits as a quarterback.
“So, Beau [Pribula] obviously has some elite athleticism, and you have to tap into that. I get questions all the time, how do you utilize players? Well, when you have an elite athlete, you have him do athletic things.”
Kotelnicki believes Pribula is in the top 1% of this category

Last season, Beau Pribula had an opportunity to make the most of his reps. Whether it was in garbage time or having to jump into the Rutgers game for an injured Drew Allar. He finished the 2023 season, with 149 passing yards and four touchdowns. He also added 329 rushing yards and six touchdowns on the ground.
Andy Kotelnicki has explained what specifically Beau Pribula can do on the field that’s at the top 1% at his position.
“His change of direction is elite at his position. His ability to change direction, his speed is really good, it’s great I don’t know if it’s elite. When I say elite I mean guys who legitimately can run great track times. He’s fast, he’s really fast, he’s one of our fastest skill players. But his change of direction for his position is elite, probably top 1%”
