The drama surrounding ex-Penn State football commit Alvin Henderson continues to pile up even after his flip to Auburn. For a few weeks, Henderson was committed to the Nittany Lions. But his heart was still in Alabama. Now, the 2025 recruiting class star running back has stated in a recent interview that he was helping the Tigers recruit while committed to Penn State.
Alvin Henderson from Elba (Alabama) initially made his commitment to the Penn State football team on April 11. But just a short few months later he flipped his commitment to Auburn on June 21. Since then, the Nittany Lions have moved on by adding the 2025 recruiting class in-state running back Jabree Wallace-Coleman.
While Henderson has parted ways from Penn State, that hasn’t stopped him from sharing details about his time as a Penn State commit. On Friday evening, Taylor Korn the host of Uncorked posted an interview with Henderson on Twitter / X, where he opened up about his time as a Nittany Lion commit.
“I was committed to Penn State, I was still recruiting to Auburn because I just know what type of school Auburn is…,” Henderson told Korn.
“Whenever I see a dude drop a top 5, top 3, top 10 with Auburn I hit them up. I just let them know no matter where they’re from, obviously, I push harder for the in-state guys but the first thing I say is how do you feel about Auburn?
“…Auburn considers me a dude that can bring in a lot of recruits so I just try to make conversation so they’ll feel comfortable. So, they can think if I come on a gameday visit I can get with Alvin [Henderson] and he can lead me around and show me everything.”

While in the moment losing Alvin Henderson to Auburn felt like a gut punch to the 2025 recruiting class, everything happens for a reason. Henderson is now in a spot where he is closer to home and passionate about the school where he will play college football.
On the other hand, a door opened for Jabree Wallace-Coleman who made his commitment to Penn State on June 22. The Philadephia native is a four-star recruit. Wallace-Coleman is the No. 6 prospect in the state and the No. 14 running back nationally per On3’s Industry Rankings. The Imhotep tailback ranks as the 218th overall recruit in On3’s rankings.
The trade-off to have an in-state prospect for both schools seems to be the best for all parties involved.
