James Franklin and the Penn State football team look to keep the good times rolling on the recruiting trail. While California hasn’t been a state where many high school football players decide to play for the Nittany Lions, that trend seems to be changing. Daryus Dixson in 2025, Troy Huhn in 2026, and now in the 2027 recruiting class, Penn State is a finalist for Brady Edmunds.
Regarded as a blue-chip talent, Brady Edmunds is a top-15 player in the 2027 recruiting class. Edmunds stands at 6-5 205 pounds and plays quarterback in Huntington Beach (California). On Tuesday, the young gunslinger shared with Blair Angulo that he has reduced his college choices to four schools. He included Michigan, Ohio State, Texas, and Penn State.
Edmunds took a trip to Happy Valley on June 9, the same weekend he earned a Penn State football scholarship offer. Now, James Franklin will battle several Big Ten foes and Texas for the elite quarterback.
Edmunds wouldn’t be the first commitment in 2027

While we are literal years away from the 2027 recruiting class signing their letters of intent, the Nittany Lions already have a jump start in that cycle. The lone commitment for Penn State is running back Kemon Spell.
The Mckeesport native made his commitment to the Nittany Lions on August 2. On3 has listed Spell as the No. 1 RB in the 2027 cycle. He ranks as the No. 1 player in Pennsylvania and No. 12 player nationally. On the other hand, 247Sports ranked Spell as a four-star prospect. He ranks as the No. 59 overall recruit nationally and the No. 4 running back in the 2027 recruiting class
