BREAKING: Penn State football lands top 2024 target Liam Andrews

The Penn State football team has just earned a new commitment to the 2024 recruiting class, as four-star DL Liam Andrews has committed to the Nittany Lions.

Recently, the Penn State football team has been bulking up its 2024 recruiting class by adding star talent to the defensive line. Now, 2024 four-star defensive lineman Liam Andrews has officially committed to Penn State. He chose the Nittany Lions over South Carolina and Wisconsin.

Defensive line coach Deion Barnes has been working hard on the recruiting trail over the past few months after landing Xavier Gilliam on June 4th, De’Andre Cook on June 30th, and Mylachi Williams on July 8th. It’s safe to say Barnes has been able to relate to these student-athletes and has guided them to Penn State.

Penn State football lands top 2024 prospect from Massachusetts

Liam Andrews has been an interesting story to follow. Listed at 6’5 260lbs, Andrews is a four-star recruit and is listed as the second overall player from Massachusetts. He is also listed as the 92nd player nationally in the 2024 class, according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

What makes his story interesting is the position that he will play in college. Most recruiting websites such as 247sports and On3 had Andrews listed as an offensive line recruit. But Andrews himself took it to social media last week to announce he intends to play defensive line in college.

What are the Nittany Lions getting from Liam Andrews?

The word I would use to describe Andrews as a player is physical, which is what you want from a defensive lineman. When you turn on his tape, he uses his speed and power to burst through the opposing offensive line. But why he is a game-wrecker is the relentless pursuit of the football Andrews has. Even when it appears the ball carrier is out of reach, that doesn’t stop him from chasing the ball and making a play.

This is exactly the kind of player that Penn State needs on their future defensive line. Adding big and tall players that can fill the run gaps but also have the motor to be an efficient pass rusher, the Nittany Lions just secured a major piece in the 2024 recruiting class.
