There has been some drama surrounding each of the Penn State football 2025 recruiting class running back commits. Earlier this week it was reported that Kiandrea Barker and Arkansas had a mutual interest, however, Barker shut that down by locking in his commitment to the Nittany Lions. While Alvin Henderson has taken an unofficial visit with Auburn since his commitment to Penn State. A likely ongoing battle until the finish line for him. Now, Rivals has reported that Tiqwai Hayes is currently taking an official visit to Stanford this weekend.
Penn State football 2025 RB commit is taking official visit with ACC foe
Tiqwai Hayes made his pledge to the Penn State football team on September 25, 2023. The three-star running back from Aliquippa, Pennsylvania was awarded a prestigious honor when named Mr. Football PA earlier this year. On3 ranks Hayes as the No. 15 player in PA and a top-50 running back in the 2025 recruiting class.
While he has been steadily committed to the Nittany Lions a new report on his Rivals profile states that he started an official visit on Friday. But he is not in Happy Valley, instead, he is at Stanford visiting the Cardinals. This of course doesn’t mean he is reconsidering his pledge to Penn State, it is something to keep an eye on over the next several weeks.
Former Penn State commit ends up at Stanford
On May 7, former Penn State football commit and 2025 recruiting class member Omari Gaines made his pledge to Stanford. A safety prospect who originally made his pledge to the Nittany Lions in March of 2023. A year later he decommitted from Penn State which led to his decision to join Stanford this fall.
With Stanford in the ACC this fall, the opportunity to visit family is much greater with the East Coast heavy schedule. Gaines from Newark, NJ will be far from home but in season he should have opportunities to see his family. Now, it’ll be interesting if the Cardinals make the same pitch to Hayes this weekend.
