Penn State basketball is roughly one month away from tip-off of the 2024-2025 season. On Wednesday, the Big Ten Preseason Media Poll was released where media members did not put a ton of stock into the Nittany Lions. Penn State was voted to finish No. 17 out of 18 total Big Ten teams, which caught the eye of star guard Ace Baldwin.

On Wednesday afternoon, the Big Ten Preseason Media Poll was released and not many are buying into Penn State basketball this preseason. It’s challenging to know what this team is capable of since they did a lot of adding and subtracting via the transfer portal this offseason.

On-court chemistry and overall talent will be seen over the next several months but Penn State finds itself in familiar territory as the underdog of the conference.

Ace Baldwin took to Twitter / X to voice his thoughts on the Big Ten Preseason Media Poll. He shared “Second to last I love it.”

The team announced on May 24 that Baldwin would return to Happy Valley this season. There was some uncertainty regarding the guards’ future in Happy Valley. He was silent for months but ultimately decided to spend his final season with Penn State.

Last season Baldwin averaged 14.2 points and 2.7 rebounds per game while securing 88 steals.

We will find out if the Nittany Lions can outplay the low preseason ranking they received on November 4. That’s when Penn State basketball will host Binghamton for their first game of the season.

This feels like another year where it will take the team time to grow chemistry. It will also take the Nittany Lion faithful time to become familiar with the key players on the roster. But with Baldwin leading the way, one thing is certain. This team will be playing with a chip on their shoulder to prove everyone wrong.
