The Penn State Nittany Lions are heading into a crucial season this winter. On Tuesday morning, the Big Ten schedules were released (without dates and times), and the 2023-24 Penn State basketball schedule is starting to come together. Here is who the Nittany Lions are going to play at home and on the road in year one of the Mike Rhoades era.

2023-24 Penn State basketball schedule is starting to come together

This morning, the 2023-24 Penn State basketball conference schedule was released. Here are the Nittany Lions’ home and away Big Ten opponents.

HOME/AWAY

This winter, Penn State basketball will play home and road games against the following teams: Indiana, Iowa, Michigan State, Maryland, Minnesota, Northwestern, and Ohio State.

These teams are set to visit Happy Valley and will be home-only opponents for the Nittany Lions: Illinois, Michigan, and Wisconsin.

The Penn State Nittany Lions will travel to the following schools as road-only opponents: Nebraska, Rutgers, and Purdue.

Penn State is looking for improvement in conference play this winter

Despite losing a good amount of talent to the transfer portal, graduation, and more, Mike Rhoades has been doing a good job of replenishing the Penn State basketball roster. A season ago, the Nittany Lions had an incredible year, going 23-14 all said and done and making the Round of 32 in the NCAA tournament for the first time since 2001. That being said, Micah Shrewsberry’s squad struggled quite a bit in Big Ten play, going 10-10 overall despite a solid start at the beginning of the year. Now, the Nittany Lions will be looking to improve their conference record and make a push for the Big Ten Championship, which they fell just short of winning during last year’s Big Ten Tournament.
