Penn State basketball is making its return to the “Cathedral of College Basketball.” According to reports from Jon Rothstein on Thursday, Mike Rhoades and the Nittany Lions will face off against the Indiana Hoosiers inside the Palestra in Philadelphia this season.

Per Rothstein’s reporting on his site, College Hoops Today, the matchup will be part of Big Ten conference play on January 5, 2025. The Big Ten will release its full conference schedule in the coming weeks.

Of course, this news would be significant for college basketball, bringing one of the country’s most well-known programs, Indiana basketball, to perhaps its most historic venue.

Mike Rhoades and Penn State basketball rallied to defeat Michigan 79-73 inside The Palestra last January.

The Nittany Lions got the best of Indiana twice last year, sweeping the Hoosiers in the regular season for the first time in 15 years. However, Indiana got its revenge in the Big Ten Tournament with a 61-59 defeat of Rhoades and the Nittany Lions in the second round.

Penn State basketball returns to action on November 4, when the Nittany Lions face Binghamton in the Bryce Jordan Center.
