It may have taken longer than initially expected, but Penn State basketball has its first transfer portal addition for the spring. First reported by On3’s Joe Tipton on Tuesday, the Nittany Lions are set to add Cincinnati guard Josh Reed to the 2026 roster.

Reed entered the portal last week after three seasons with the Bearcats. He’s made 98 appearances in his college career, including nine starts at the end of this last season. Nearly doubling his floor time as a junior, Reed finished the year averaging 4.8 points and 2.1 rebounds per game.

A former three-star recruit from Atlanta, Georgia, Reed will have one season to play in Happy Valley.

Reed’s commitment helps stem the tide of roster departures in recent weeks for the Nittany Lions. Mike Rhoades has lost four of Penn State’s five commitments in the 2024 cycle, with only guard Dominick Stewart remaining in State College following the end of the season.
