The Penn State basketball team has taken a few hits to the transfer portal this week. While it appeared that the first wave was slowing down an additional role player will be searching for a new home ahead of the 2024-2025 season. Now, Penn State sophomore forward Demetrius Lilley has officially entered his name in the transfer portal.

Losing Demetrius Lilley hurts those who closely follow Penn State basketball. Originally a member of the 2022 recruiting class Lilley was a three-star prospect with loads of potential. He’s from Philadephia and was rated as the No. 10 player in PA in the 2022 cycle. He appeared in five games during his freshman season and took the year to develop.

But this past season Lilley saw a major uptick in playing time. Appearing in 20 games for the Nittany Lions while averaging 2.8 points per game and 2.7 rebounds per game. Now, coming off of a career year Lilley has decided to enter the transfer portal according to Rivals.

Three other Nittany Lions hit the portal

With Lilley in the transfer portal, the total count for the Nittany Lions is four players. So far the Penn State basketball team has lost Kanye Clary, Bragi Guðmundsson, Favour Aire, and now Demetrius Lilley to the portal. Clary was an expected entry after being dismissed from the team in mid-February.

The Nittany Lions have lost a good portion of their depth early this offseason but we have to trust that head coach Mike Rhoades has a plan to replenish the roster with additional talent. Penn State continues to await decisions from Puff Johnson and Ace Baldwin on whether they will return to Happy Valley for the upcoming season.
