James Franklin, one of the best recruiters in the Big Ten (if not the entire country), will have his shot at the biggest name on the market next month. Dylan Stewart, the No. 1 recruit in the 2024 class, will be in State College on April 7th. The Penn State Nittany Lions do not appear to be Stewart’s top choice as of right now; however, that does not mean that his visit to Happy Valley won’t change that.

Franklin has shot at No. 1 recruit in the 2024 class

According to On3, Dylan Stewart is a 6-5, 235-pound defensive end from Friendship Collegiate Academy in Washington DC. Additionally, he is ranked as the No. 1 edge, No. 1 player in DC, and the No. 1 recruiting in the 2024 class — needless to say, getting Dylan Stewart in the Blue and White should be a top priority for head coach James Franklin and his staff.

Stewart is currently trending for a handful of Big Ten schools, namely Maryland, Ohio State, and Penn State. On3 lists South Carolina as the current leader in his recruitment. Additionally, the Nittany Lions currently boast a 7.1% chance of pulling in Stewart per On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine.

Other Big Ten schools listed in Stewart’s visit list

On Wednesday, Stewart announced that he will be visiting with nine schools this spring and summer. There are three Big Ten teams listed, all of which are the top three teams in the conference: Michigan, Ohio State, and Penn State. The Nittany Lions have some other big-name competition, such as the Alabama Crimson tide, the Tennessee Volunteers, the Georgia Bulldogs, and more.

It may seem like a longshot, though the fact that the Nittany Lions made Stewart’s spring visit list is a good sign — if Franklin can put on a good enough show, we could see the nation’s top prospect in the Blue and White in 2024.
