The Penn State football team is still looking for more consistency at wide receiver. Through two games in the 2024 season we’ve seen Drew Allar show that he’s comfortable with Trey Wallace and tight end Tyler Warren. But as we all know once Big Ten play begins, the Nittany Lions will need more wide receivers to show their value. One of those players could end up being true freshman Tyseer Denmark who James Franklin continues to rave about.

James Franklin has gone out of his way to show his support for true freshman wide receiver Tyseer Denmark. A player who enrolled over the summer and made an early impression on Franklin. As the season goes on, the Penn State football team will need to have other receivers step up. One of them could be Denmark who has yet to appear on offense this fall.

“You guys have heard us talk about him before,” Franklin said after practice Wednesday night. “He is an exciting young player that we think is going to have a role at some point. But there’s a lot more that goes into this than just running routes and catching balls. There’s a lot more that goes into it. You got to be physically ready, you got to be emotionally ready, you got to be mentally ready.

“And typically, for most of these guys, there’s one of those areas that they got to get resolved before they’re able to get on the field. But he’s trending in the right direction for sure.”

Not the first time Franklin has shared high remarks for Denmark

While it might not be this season, it’s clear that Tyseer Denmark is a big part of the future of Penn State football. During fall camp Franklin described Denmark as a player who has ‘flashed.’

“Tyseer [Denmark] has really flashed and done some really nice things,” Franklin said. “This is very, very different, so there’s still an adjustment period going on. There’s a pretty significant buzz in the program about him.”

Denmark who was a one-time Oregon commit, could see his first offensive snaps come on Saturday against Kent State. At this point seniority should be thrown out of the window, Penn State needs the best playmakers to be out on the field. The Kent State game will allow the fan base to potentially see what other wide receivers are capable of.

Penn State’s game against Kent State will kick off on Saturday at 3:30 pm ET on BTN.
