Penn State football suffered a setback earlier this offseason when Storm Duck, an important depth player, decided to transfer via the portal. However, the Nittany Lions have taken steps to fill that void by acquiring a new addition through the transfer portal: Audavion Collins, a former three-star cornerback from Mississippi State.

Collins, a promising prospect from Georgia who previously played in the SEC, brings added depth and talent to Penn State’s roster.

Penn State football addresses transfer portal need with new SEC commitment

Penn State football has recently secured the commitment of Audavion Collins, a former cornerback from Mississippi State hailing from Georgia. The announcement of his commitment was made on Tuesday afternoon, which coincided well with the team’s loss of Storm Duck (formerly of UNC) to the transfer portal following the Blue/White game.

Collins, who spent a single season with the MSU Bulldogs in the SEC, did not have any playing time. As a three-star prospect in the class of 2022, he was ranked as the 63rd cornerback in his class and the 71st recruit in Georgia.

While Collins isn’t being brought in to fill a significant void, he is expected to become an important depth player for the Nittany Lion defense, which is already showing signs of being one of the best in the nation. It’s important to note that Penn State needed a transfer cornerback to alleviate some pressure on the top half of their defensive back room. Collins, with his experience in the Power Five conference and natural talent, is a valuable addition who is unlikely to create depth issues or position battles within the cornerback group this year.

Overall, Collins is an excellent addition to Penn State football, providing much-needed depth as the team faces a demanding 12-game schedule this fall.
