This weekend is massive for the Penn State football team. As the Nittany Lions will host the annual Lasch Bash, with dozens of top recruits making their way to Happy Valley. One of those players who will step on campus this weekend is a current 2026 recruiting class commit Messiah Mickens. On Thursday evening, he made a recruiting pitch on social media to the No. 1 player in PA, Kevin Brown.

Kevin Brown was a confirmed visitor for this weekend’s Lasch Bash by Steve Wiltfong of On3 earlier this week. Brown will return to campus for his ninth visit to Happy Valley during his recruitment. The Penn State football team has struggled to keep the best prospects in Pennsylvania in the state with the 2025 recruiting class, which makes the efforts with Brown even more important.

On3 considers Brown as the No. 1 player in PA, and the No. 3 IOL in the country (No. 28 nationally). On Thursday evening Messiah Mickens who is the longest-tenured commit in the 2026 recruiting class for the Nittany Lions, offered his recruiting pitch to Brown on Twitter / X.

Mickens tweeted, “Come home brother.” But these two are much closer than just social media followers. Both Brown and Mickens attend Harrisburg High School and will compete on the field as teammates this fall.

Kevin Brown is from Harrisburg and is most familiar with the Penn State football team due to its proximity to home and the number of unofficial visits he has completed. But he has recently shared with Ryan O’Bleness of Rivals what stands out about the Nittany Lions.

“What stands out to me the most is their honesty and clarity.”

Brown has also recently shared with Steve Wiltfong of On3 what he enjoys about Penn State’s staff. After eight visits he has been able to build strong relationships with Phil Trautwein and James Franklin.

“Their staff is excellent too,” Brown told Wiltfong.
