Penn State wrestling will lock up the program’s 13th national championship during Saturday’s first session. The question is when will the Nittany Lions reach the team point threshold to secure a fourth consecutive title.

Cael Sanderson has three Nittany Lions competing for individual titles on Saturday evening. The remaining seven wrestlers are all still in the running for third place in their respective weight classes. Those placements will be decided during session five.

With 135.5 points coming into Saturday, Penn State wrestling leads second-place Nebraska by 34 points. The Cornhuskers also have three NCAA Finalists. But with only five wrestlers still alive in the consolation bracket and the Nittany Lions’ large lead, it’s mathematically impossible for Nebraska to overtake first place in the team race.
