Penn State football fans are awaiting a decision from the No. 1 wide receiver in Pennsylvania. On Thursday, 2025 target Lex Cyrus will make his commitment official. The decision is set to take place at 3 p.m. at Susquehanna Township High School. Cyrus will choose between the Nittany Lions and South Carolina. But ahead of his decision, 2026 recruiting class running back commit Messiah Mickens has given his thoughts on where Cyrus should commit.
Lex Cyrus is one of the top remaining wide receiver targets on the board for the Penn State football team in the 2025 recruiting cycle. From Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Cyrus ranks as the No. 1 wide receiver in the Keystone State, according to On3.
Standing at 5-10 175 pounds, the explosive receiver has made seven trips to Happy Valley during his recruitment. His official visit took place on May 31. Standing in front of the Nittany Lions is the South Carolina Gamecocks. We’ve seen players from Pennsylvania leave the state to play in the SEC, such as legacy target Michael Carroll (Alabama) and QB target Matt Zollers (Missouri).
But Harrisburg High School Messiah Mickens, who is a current Penn State commit in the 2026 recruiting class, is doing everything in his power to make sure Cyrus becomes a Nittany Lion. On Wednesday, he posted his recruiting pitch on Twitter / X to Cyrus.
“You know where home is brother!!” Mickens tweeted.

Experts have indicated that Penn State football has been trending for Lex Cyrus for some time. If he does make that decision, he will join Lyrick Samuel and Jeff Exinor as the two other wide receiver commits in the cycle.
Three predictions have been made that point Cyrus to Happy Valley. Brian Dohn of 247Sports placed the initial crystal ball on February 22. Then, Ryan Snyder of On3 placed an RPM in favor of Penn State on June 6. Most recently, Ed O’Brien of 247Sports placed his crystal ball for the Nittany Lions on June 24.
Cyrus would be a massive addition for the Nittany Lions. He holds the rankings of the No. 5 player in the state and the No. 16 wide receiver in the 2025 recruiting cycle (No. 109 nationally), according to On3.
