James Franklin and Penn State football continue to capitalize on a successful White Out weekend. After landing 2027 top 50 offensive lineman Layton von Brandt just before kickoff with Washington, the Nittany Lions cashed in again late Sunday evening, securing a commitment from Warren G. Harding (OH) 2025 four-star defensive end Chaz Coleman.

“I’m excited to announce that I will be continuing my education and athletic career as a [Nittany] Lion,” Coleman wrote on X Sunday night. “I’d like to thank everyone who’s been instrumental in getting me to this point. I’m truly honored and beyond grateful.”

Coleman earned his offer from Penn State football in September. He was in Happy Valley this weekend on his official visit.

Kentucky, Michigan State, Ole Miss, Missouri, and Pitt were among the programs to extend offers. He recently visited the Wildcats at the end of October and the Spartans in September. Coleman also visited Ohio State earlier in the season and was of growing interest to the in-state Buckeyes.

Both a defensive end and quarterback for Warren G. Harding, Coleman is the No. 5 athlete, No. 213 prospect, and No. 10 player from Ohio in the 2025 recruiting class per On3. He checks in as the No. 22 athlete and No. 599 overall on the On3 Industry Rankings and as the No. 26 athlete and No. 423 overall in the 247Sports Composite.

With 26 commitments, Penn State football has the No. 15 class in the 2025 recruiting cycle, ranking fifth among Big Ten programs.
