The NFL Draft is still three months away, but edge rusher Abdul Carter is already making himself known among a talented 2025 Draft class. The former Penn State football star has a more than compelling case to be the No. 1 overall pick, according to ESPN NFL Draft expert Matt Miller.

Last week, Miller went on the record regarding his belief in Carter’s place compared to the rest of the field.

“For me, it’s Abdul Carter 1st overall, and then there’s a gap to every other prospect in this class,” Miller said. “Not [because of positional value] for me. Just due to being the best prospect.”

Carter led the nation with 23.5 tackles for loss last season. He finished his Penn State football career with 172 tackles and 23 sacks over three years.

The former Nittany Lion is starting to surge up mock Draft boards. Most recently, NFL.com media analyst Daniel Jeremiah had Carter as the top pick in his latest mock Draft over the weekend, going to the Tennessee Titans.

“My ears perked up when Titans president of football operations Chad Brinker said the team wouldn’t pass on a generational talent with the first pick,” Jeremiah wrote. “To me, Carter is the best player in the draft and plays a premium position.”

The 2025 NFL Draft begins on Thursday, April 24, in Green Bay. Of course, Carter himself hasn’t shied away from expressing how long of a wait he should have to hear his name called come Draft night.
