Happy Valley is seemingly turning into the center of the college sports universe this week, as prominent personalities begin flocking to State College for Saturday’s showdown between No. 4 Ohio State and No. 3 Penn State football. But Beaver Stadium will be without one presidential spectator this weekend, as Donald Trump is no longer planning to attend the game.
Reports surfaced last week that the former president and the current Republican nominee was making plans to attend the top-five matchup between the Nittany Lions and Buckeyes. The university later confirmed these reports, while acknowledging that Trump had been invited as guest of a private citizen.
However, the Trump campaign’s website now shows that the 45th president is expected to be Salem, Virginia, for a rally at 4 p.m. on Saturday. University officials have already spoken to several outlets, including Onward State and the Centre Daily Times, confirming that Trump will not be in attendance.
Penn State football is currently a 3.5-point underdog to the Buckeyes, the first time the Nittany Lions have not been favored in a game this season. Kickoff is set for noon ET on FOX.
