For the second time this offseason the Penn State football team suffered disheartening news. As Sean Fitz of Blue White Illustrated reported Nittany Lion defensive end Zuriah Fisher has suffered an injury and will be out indefinitely because of this. It’s the second significant injury that Fisher has suffered during his Penn State career. He faced a similar fate ahead of the 2022 season in which he was able to return for the final two games. Now, he joins Keon Wylie as two injured defenders for Penn State.

Zuriah Fisher was poised for a big season this fall. His development took the next step during the 2023 season. He appeared in 13 games recording 17 tackles and 3.5 sacks last season. With Abdul Carter and Dani Dennis-Sutton the likely starters at defensive end this fall, Fisher was a key reserve for the Nittany Lions. On Thursday On3 confirmed that Fisher will be “out indefinitely” due to injury.

Nate Bauer of Blue White Illustrated further described the situation that Fisher is faced with. “The rising fifth-year senior defender suffered a “significant” injury setback that will render him out indefinitely ahead of the Nittany Lions’ 2024 campaign. The injury was sustained while the program worked through its spring practice session in April.”

Fisher is the 2nd Nittany Lion defender to face injury this offseason

On May 8 it was announced that linebacker Keon Wylie suffered an undisclosed injury that will force him to miss significant time ahead of the 2024 season. Wylie appeared in 13 games last season on special teams and defense, accounting for 17 tackles, 5 tackles for loss, and 3 sacks.

With Zuriah Fisher and Keon Wylie sidelined with injury expect additional talent to step up. At linebacker players such as Kaveion Keys, Tony Rojas, and Ta’Mere Robinson. Then, at the defensive end Jameial Lyons, Amin Vanover, and Mylachi Williams stepped up in the absence of Wylie and Fisher.
