Beau Pribula is heading to the SEC. One week after entering the portal, the former Penn State football backup quarterback announced his plans to transfer to Missouri.

Matt Zenitz of 247Sports first reported the news. Pribula and the Tigers program both confirmed the report shortly thereafter. The redshirt sophomore quarterback also visited Iowa, UCF, and Ole Miss over the last week.

Pribula will have two seasons of eligibility remaining.

Even in a backup role, Beau Pribula was a valuable asset to the Nittany Lions offense. The York native finished his Penn State football career with 424 yards and nine touchdowns passing along with 571 yards and 10 scores on the ground. Pribula threw for 275 yards and five touchdowns while rushing for 242 yards and four scores this fall.

“Growing up in Pennsylvania, it has always been a dream of mine to play football for Penn State,” Pribula wrote last week. “Wearing the Blue and White these last three years has brought me some of the greatest moments of my life.”

Pribula’s decision to enter the transfer portal amid the Nittany Lions’ College Football Playoff run has sparked a national conversation about the current inefficiencies with the sport’s calendar.

“We’ve got problems in college football. And I can give you my word; Beau Pribula did not want to leave our program and he did not want to leave our program until the end of the season,” James Franklin said. “But the way the portal is and the timing of it and the way our team is playing, and when you play the position of quarterback, and there’s only one spot, and those spots are filling up, he felt like he was put in a no-win situation, and I agree with him.”

With the move, Pribula will join forces with Spring-Ford four-star quarterback Matt Zollers in Columbia. A top 50 prospect and the No. 2 player from Pennsylvania in the 2025 cycle, Zollers committed to Missouri last spring and signed with the Tigers earlier in December.

Both represented by the York-based Aurum Sports talent agency, Pribula will now get to mentor the up-and-coming Zollers as he makes his transition to the college game.
